Rhyl railway station is on the Crewe to Holyhead North Wales Coast Line and serves the major holiday resort of Rhyl.
The station was once the junction for a branch line to Denbigh (the Vale of Clwyd Railway), but this was closed to passengers in September 1955.[1]
Ticket barriers are in operation at this station. Although only two platforms remain in use here today, the layout was more substantial until the late 1980s. There was an additional through platform on the southern side and an east-facing bay platform (still intact although now disused) on the northern side, plus a pair of through lines and several carriage sidings. It also has two impressive LNWR-built brick and timber signal boxes,[2] although only the former No.1 box is now operational (the disused No.2 box at the western end remains intact, as it is a listed building).
Mon - Sat:
On Sundays, there is an hourly service each way - westbound to Holyhead and eastbound to Crewe, plus three through trains to London.
